Healing Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

Your trauma deserves expert and compassionate care. My somatic therapy approach comes from leading trauma researchers and spiritual workers where traditional talk therapy falls short.

We go beyond just talking - we’ll tap directly into your body’s natural abilities to help you manage overwhelm, regain control and safely resolve trauma.

How many of these describe you?

☐ Unable to relax or enjoy moments of silence/peace without the fear of something bad happening

☐ Secretly dreading each day but having to put on a happy face and pretend like you don’t feel awful inside

☐ Easily upset and wishing you weren’t so sensitive

☐ Confused or unsure about who you really are and what makes you truly happy

☐ Stuck in unhealthy patterns but unable to break them and judging yourself harshly for that

☐ Feeling insecure or unsatisfied in your relationships

All of these are symptoms of unresolved trauma - signs that you’re stuck in survival patterns from the past rather than being your fullest, authentic self.

I’m Nicole and I’ve been there.

I know first-hand the effects of trauma and have focused my career on helping traumatized people finally feel safe in their bodies. Through extensive training and experience, I’ve developed an approach that:

  • Compassionately recognizes the coping mechanisms that helped you make the most out of harmful situations and environments - clearing up confusion, blame and shame

  • Bridges the gap of mind-body-spirit connection to guide you back into a state of wholeness so you can feel like yourself

  • Builds strengths and coping skills as a first priority - putting you confidently back in the driver's seat with practical tools to manage stress and triggers

  • Trusts the innate ability of the mind/body/spirit to process pain and heal given a safe, supportive environment - finally ending the struggle to fix yourself and bringing in healing that feels natural and lasts

  • Safely heals deep wounds, even if you don't know what caused them or can't remember ever feeling differently - it's possible to move forward without having to live through them again.

✂️Healing trauma with talk therapy is like mowing your lawn with scissors.

You can go for it,

but there are more effective ways.

You don’t need to spend the rest of your life constantly healing the same shit over and over again. When we approach trauma healing through the body (somatic healing), we bypass the misguided Western model that only addresses the symptoms. Somatic spiritual healing offers tangible results that determine the origin and heal the pattern for good.

Because let’s be honest-there are some pretty amazing things in this world, but if we aren’t embodied in life can we truly experience it?

 FAQs

  • I've helped clients heal from: physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect, religious trauma through somatic healing.

As a spiritual practitioner, I also work with in utero, past life healing, ancestral healing, spiritual awakenings and archetypal work.

  • I don’t take any insurance. My fees are $95 per hour session, however, I do offer a sliding scale rate of $60-95 for those who need it. Please inquire about a sliding scale rate when you reach out.

  • I'm open to what works best for you - weekly, once a month or "as-needed."

The plan isn’t for us to work together forever. Somatic therapy is designed to empower you with the tools to regulate your nervous system and to learn self-healing techniques.

My goal as a practitioner is to be there when you need it, but I want you to remind you that you are not broken and you do not need others to “fix” you. It’s about integrating what’s happened to us, healing the pieces that need it, and eventually step out into the world and live our your purpose-whatever that may be.

  • Our goal is to get in tune with the trauma residual left in your body one little bit at a time and in way that is not overwhelming. (it’s called titration)

I am transparent and honest about this: the healing process takes time. The healing process depends on several factors, but most importantly, the tools and resources that we have to work through what we need to.

Somatic therapy isn’t a band-aid, in fact, some people consider this to be akin to shadow work which requires a willingness to sit with uncomfortable feelings and ask the hard questions,

Why Just Talking About Trauma Doesn’t Work

Talking about traumatic events doesn’t usually resolve trauma because the parts most affected by trauma (Emotional Brain and Survival Brain) aren’t accessible via our normal thought processes (Logical Brain). Talking about trauma can, however, trigger these traumatized parts and result in the nervous system getting overwhelmed and re-traumatized. Additionally, many people don't fully remember what happened - the missing pieces are held by other parts of the brain and body.

The best way to work with trauma is through the body in a gentle way that follows intuitive impulses and avoids getting overwhelmed. These are the three main steps:

  1. Preparation: We connect with the body and explore the sensations that are arising.

  2. Discovery & Healing: We know that our bodies speak to us through sensations; through this discovery process, we locate the body memory that needs to be worked with. Through mindfulness, breath, and self-inquiry, we resolve the trauma in an embodied way, letting our bodies know that it is now safe and no longer needs to hold onto the memory that is stuck in the body.

  3. Integration: Once our body tells us we are now safe, we experience a new level of connection with ourselves and a difference in how it feels to be in our body. We will mindfully track this change to ensure it is fully integrated within all our brain systems — logical, emotional and survival - so the fragmented pieces can be unified once again. But how do we take all of this newness into our already pre-scheduled lives? This is where I come in. We’ll explore how to cultivate this safety and freedom through practical tools, resources and tips. (like a friendly reminder to have fun or a book recommendation)
